Can I ship my luggage myself?

Yes, there are many freight companies that may arrange transportation of your luggage. However unlike ABDABAG who’s only specialized business is delivery of luggage and personal effects, this is not freight companies’ primary source of business and as such you may have to follow lengthy and time consuming procedures in order to ship your items. This may involve having to box and having to complete complex Air Waybills and invoices where requested by customs as well as possibly having to drop and pick your luggage at the freight company's location. Total cost of freight, time and hassles confronted by you shipping alone may far exceed our single quote with no hidden charges.

We offer this service. We require the following additional information: - cruise line, vessel name, date and port of departure and port of arrival.
Can my bags be picked up if I am not at home?

Yes. You can tell us where they are and we will handle the rest.
How many days in advance do I need to book?

A minimum of 1 working day prior to the date of collection if you have access to email and a printer to print off the Air Waybills. However wherever possible, we recommend more days so that you can keep you baggage ready with necessary document for secured and prompt pick and delivery. Our customer service team is always there to assist you.
If I send my luggage to a hotel, can I have them arrive earlier than my check in time?

Yes. Just specify whom you would like it delivered to (i.e. bell desk). It is recommended to call them to notify about the arrival of your items.

A. We do offer Saturday & Sunday pick-ups, but on the pick-up for weekends there is an additional Fee. Please check with at customercare@abdabag.com.
How does ABDABAG calculate the weight of a piece of luggage?
Top
There are two ways of measuring: gross weight and volumetric weight.
1. Gross weight is the weight of the luggage with the goods inside. Gross weight is to determine the heaviness of the luggage.

2. Volumetric weight is calculated by length (L), width (W) and height (H) of one piece of luggage.
(L x W x H in cm)/5000 = weight in kilograms
Volumetric weight is to determine the space occupied by your luggage.

For the final weight, ABDABAG will take into account the highest weight of the two.
e.g. if gross weight is 25 kilograms and volumetric is 30 kilograms. You will be charged for 30 kilograms.
What is the minimum and maximum weight of shipment I can send through ABDABAG?

ABDABAG accepts a minimum of 5 kilograms per shipment. If your shipment is less than 5 kilograms we will bill you for 5 kilograms. We do not have any limitation for maximum weight. ABDABAG can deliver any size, shape or quantity you wish to ship.
How will I be billed?

ABDABAG strive to provide ONE QUOTE with NO HIDDEN CHARGES. At the time of scheduling, the ABDABAG system will create an invoice outlining the charges generated from information given to us. We charge your credit card at that time based on the information (weight, dimensions and any additional insurance purchased) provided by you. We then calculate any additional fees based on weight, dimensions and duties (if applicable) after your trip has been completed.
Does the ABDABAG Quote include total cost of the shipment?

The ABDABAG quote includes all logistic and transportation cost without any hidden costs. However, if and when applicable, the quote does not include charges related to any customs duties or tax charged by individual Customs Department.
Why do I need to pay custom duties / why custom duties are not included in the costs?

Our rates include picking up your goods from your door step and delivery at your destination door step. Our quoted charges include costs associated with the logistic, transport and custom clearance formalities. However, duties and taxes assessed by Customs and any other governmental department are imposed based on the nature and value of the items shipped. Each case is specific and subject to the local country’s Customs regulations on which ABDABAG has no influence whatsoever. The assessment of any duties are at the discretion of the country’s Customs Department and if certain items are claimed by the authorities as dutiable items, the shipper or recipient is required to pay these charges before the items are released from the Customs department by our logistic company.
Do I pay custom duties at departure or arrival destination?

Payments of customs duties are determined by local Customs Department of each country. Typically, excluding duty free item and used personal clothing and items, destination country may levy customs duty per their regulation for certain dutiable items, such as new electronics and any such items deemed dutiable by the Customs Department.

What are the documents needed for transporting goods with ABDABAG?

Proper documents are to be presented for customs clearance and also to facilitate clearance.
1. The basic document presented for customs clearance is the Airway Bill which will be provided by ABDABAG.

2. Packing list - It should include number, weight and value of items, name and address of shipper.

3. Shipper’s declaration form - Contact address and phone numbers at both departure and arrival point is required.

4. A copy of your passport is also required.
Why do I need to give my passport details?

Similar to the customs and immigration formalities conducted at the airports or border crossings, passport details, are needed by the Customs Department of the origin as well as destination country to monitor import and exports.
What is an airway bill?

The Airway Bill is an important document issued by ABDABAG, similar to a baggage tag issued by airline, identifying shippers as well recipient’s information in addition to brief details of the shipment. Airway Bill consists of series of unique numbers which identifies your shipment. This Airway Bill number will be used by ABDABAG, Customs and delivery agents.
Does my baggage travel with me on the same flight?

No. We offer mainly deferred day service meaning usually your baggage travels on the first available flight directly to your destination.  
How many days are needed for baggage to reach destination once they have been picked up?

ABDABAG delivers within 2 to 5 working days. Please note that goods are subject to custom clearance and can cause unpredicted delays due to local conditions such as holidays.

Your baggage would be delivered to the door step of the destination location requested by you.
Are there extra costs at destination?

ABDABAG, at a fixed price, provides pick service of baggage and personal effects from origin and delivery to destination point. Typically, baggage and personal effects are not assessed with duties or taxes. However, each country has its own customs fees, duties or quarantine fees for some items. These assessment and charges are at the discretion of individual countries Customs Department. Please check our Customs guide for local regulations and fees. All custom duties will be paid by the Customer.
How do I pack my things?

Use good quality strong boxes, bags or suitcases. Please bear in mind that your luggage will travel long distances. Good quality packing tape and packing material is necessary for the safety of your goods. Overloading of baggage is not advised due to transportation hazards.

How do I label my baggage?

Please write your full name and exact address clearly on all baggage and boxes. You will also receive pre-printed Airway Bill via email providing the details and address of Sender as well as the recipient. We recommend copy of the same be attached to your shipment.
Should I create a packing list?
Top
You will find ABDABAG packing list on our website under “Shipping Documents”. You can print a copy and fill the details of your goods. The packing list is required by Customs at the destination airport and also in case you insure your goods.
Will my bags be opened and if yes by whom?
Top
ABDABAG respects privacy and security of goods of our Customers. However, case by case basis we or our logistic partners worldwide may be requested by Transport Security Administration or Customs Department of any country to open such bags or boxes for inspection. We may recommend including a duplicate key of your bag in order to avoid breaking of luggage locks during inspection.  
What insurance does ABDABAG offer?

You can fully insure your goods at a cost equivalent to 4% of the total declared value of your shipment.
All other baggage, without optional insurance provision, is insured with the International Airlines for loss or visible damage and such loss is limited to USD 100.
How can I track my shipments?

Go to “Track” and enter your unique ABDABAG TRANSACTION Airway Bill number and press on “Track now”. The status of your shipment will be displayed.
